1. Holiday Inn, Kingston NY
I stayed at the Holiday Inn on a Friday and Saturday in July 2003. They were
under construction so when I called for reservations they said they had limited
room availability. I booked a room for my family and another room for another
family. I will call them the Smith family for this story. It turns out that I
made a mistake about the name of the other family staying at the hotel, the
other family's name was Jones. I didn't think it was important to notify
the hotel about the name change, I told them the family would say they were from
the Orange Crush softball team, and thought that that would be good enough. Well
I was wrong, when I got my credit card statement not only did I have a charge
for the room I stayed in, they also charged me for the other room even though
the Jones family checked in as scheduled. They said the Smith family was a no
show. Now that was the topping on the cake. The room that we stayed in was a
nice room except the toilet wasn't working properly. It flushed when it wanted
to. Sometimes I would stand there for 10 minutes trying to get the toilet paper
to get sucked into the sewer. We notified them 3 times and 3 times they sent up
a maintenance man up with a plunger. There was a definite problem with the drain
line because when you ran the sink water would come almost to the top of it.
When we showered, there was 3 or 4 inches of water filling the tub as we
showered. It was a horrible, stress filled stay, wondering if the fecal matter
would ever leave the bowl. After the 3rd attempt of them coming to try and fix
it and not fixing the problem we asked for a new room, they told me there were
no rooms available. If there was none available why did I pay for a room that
was empty. That annoyed me to no end. When I contacted the hotel they told me it
was a no show, the family did not call to cancel and they charged my card for an
empty room while I was in a defective room. I also sent an email to there
corporate office but have not heard from them as of yet. 8/6/03. I will never
stay in a Holiday Inn again. I 'd rather sleep in my car than to give them
another penny of my hard earned money.
Update 8/9/03
Corporate has sent me an email stating:
Dear Mr. Musich,
Thank you for your email regarding your experience with the Holiday Inn
Kingston, NY. We apologize for any inconvenience this situation may have
caused you.
I am currently in the process of contacting the hotel management to address
the situation, and will respond to you within the next 7-10 business days.
For your records, your comments are documented under reference number
**********.

appreciate your patience and will be in touch with you shortly.
